I met my friend, Steph at the gym again this morning to do some weights. I've been super sick with the flu and was finally feeling better today. I was just going to do an easy 3 miles, but figured weights wouldn't kill me.
Ugh! We did legs today. Her friend/boot-camp instructor has her doing exercises requiring a weight heavy enough where you can only do 6 to 10 reps. That's all fine and dandy and all. But I can't get Tony Horton and all three of my old personal trainers out of my head. "You want size? 6 to 8 reps." Hell, no I don't want size! My legs are big enough as it is. I want lean! And according to Tony, and the rest of my trainers, "You want lean? 12 to15."
So when we switched off machines, I lowered the weights from Steph's 40 to 10 for me. Yeah, so what if I felt like the biggest pansy.
When we were done I headed to the treadmills. I did the first mile at 5.7 (10:32/mile). And then I felt tired. I knew I should take it easy, so I walked.
Then I did speed intervals for the next mile. Oops.
But I was done after 2 miles total. That's been my shortest run in a long time.
We'll see what tomorrow brings.
