The plan for the day was to do hill intervals on the treadmill after work and then Insanity's Core Cardio and Balance. But then my friend, Steph, let me know there was a spin class going on at the gym by my work at 6:30 pm. Since I had my gym bag with me, I figured I would do that instead of the run.
And then one of the managers at my job asked if anyone wanted the small refrigerator that was in the conference room. Uh, free stuff? Yes, please. However, there was some ice build-up in the freezer part, so I didn't want to leave it in my car for too long. So long, spin class.
After taking my new-to-me refrigerator home, struggling to lift it out of my car by myself and getting it into the house, I threw on my gym clothes, gobbled four huge chocolate chip cookies, and headed to the gym closer to my house to do the planned hill intervals.
The plan was as thus:
10 minutes warm-up - 5.5 speed (11:00/mile) - 0.0 incline
5 minutes - 5.7 speed (10:32/mile) - 1.0 incline
2 minutes - 5.7 speed (10:32/mile) - 5.0 incline
3 minutes recovery - 5.5 (11:00/mile) - 0.0 incline
Repeat above interval twice.
Cool down
I did pretty much most of it. Except for the recovery part. I had to walk the first minute of recovery. I was pretty freakin exhausted after running 2 minutes at a 5.0 incline. But I'm pretty happy that I managed the 2 minutes of running at that incline. I've failed at that part plenty times before. There were a ton of people at the gym, even at 7:30 at night. However, a guy got on the treadmill next to me, threw a towel over the display and just started running. He was not a newbie. And I wanted to impress him, or at least give him an indication that I wasn't a newbie either. So that helped with the mental aspect of forcing myself to finish those 5.0 incline runs.
When I got home, I did Insanity's Core Cardio and Balance. It was much easier to do this time after a run instead of doing it after lower body weight-training like yesterday.
Oh, and here's my new fridge. I took a pic of it in front of the tv for perspective. I have to leave it there because I don't think I can manage dragging it up the stairs to my bedroom on my own. And yes, that's my son's pink lunch box on the floor.
