Push It

With all this time on my hands with my works hours being cut to just noon to four, I hit the gym this morning after I dropped my daughter off at school. I had an easy 3 mile run planned since I went hard on Monday and Tuesday and I've got 10 miles planned for this Saturday.

I guess I just don't like easy runs.

The first mile was done at my standard warm-up pace of 5.7 (10:32/mile).

The second mile I did at 6.2 (9:41/mile).

I did most of the third mile at 6.5 (9:14/mile), with the exception of the last tenth of a mile that I did at 7.0 (8:34/mile). Huzzah!

I did the math (which took me an unbelievably long time to figure out) and I ran that last mile in about 9:10.

How are you going to know how fast you can actually run if you don't push yourself?

I'm thinking that 9:30 pace is in my sights and soon.
